by This RP was one I was involved in on The Role Play Site back in 2011. It was pretty epic, so I thought I'd introduce it here.

In this world, people have grown and learned to live in relative peace. Modern cities are sprouting everywhere and food isn't an issue. Schooling has taken priority and the use of one's 'Mecha' is now frowned upon unless it's for self defense. For you see, a person's 'Mecha' is their soul's weapon and in a world as peaceful as this, wielding a weapon is unnecessary.
But at Kaimera High School, a high end prestigious place of learning, peace is boring. Popularity hinges on how well students can break that boredom, and the best way to earn prestige is through the U.M.A. - The Underground Mecha Arena.
The U.M.A battles are the main source of entertainment at Kaimera High and the hottest conversation topic. Naturally these fights are secret and not done when the teachers are watching. Students watch the fights, cheering on their favourites to win and some of the more daring even lay down bets. The fighters reap the benefits of popularity, ranking up in the status quo, and even rake in prize money.
The U.M.A. is one of many hidden rooms in the old Kaimera school that has become famous for its use as a battle arena. Students gather there in secret and compete against one another in fights utilising their 'Mecha'. This underground fighting rink is surprisingly organized, with 7 levels of combat.
Each newcomer to the U.M.A. starts off as an F class fighter. As they win and rank up, they eventually move up the classes to E, D, C, B, and A respectively. If a fighter is particularly skilled, they are placed amongst the rank of S class and are treated with great respect around the school. Achieving S class is not easy as there are only four S class fighters in the entire school. The only way to achieve this highly coveted rank, is to defeat at least two S class fighters.
An S class fight always draws a huge crowd.
Kaimera High isn't the only school that likes to break the rules and host these battles. They will often meet with other high end schools and compete in secret tournaments, pitting F-class against F-class, B-class against B-class, and so on. The Underground Mecha Arena battles are taken so seriously that the schools participating even hand out a trophy to the top school at the end of each year.
Kaimera High is currently in possession of that trophy, and they have no intention of losing it this year.

~ Everyone in this world has the innate ability to summon one weapon. They can materialize one single thing that best suits them for combat. This item is called a 'Mecha'
~ Due to this time of peace, most people don't summon their Mecha and are not skilled in their Mecha's use. That is why F class fighters are frequently mocked as they are the most inexperienced.
~ All students in Kaimera High are automatically ranked, even if they don't actually compete. Everyone starts off in F class.
~ U.M.A. is an illegal fighting ring and the students keep it secret.
~ The student elected President and Vice President are in charge of setting up Battle tournaments. One on one battles can be requested anytime by simply slipping the request into the locker of the person you wish to fight. They have the right to refuse. Fighters can also just sign up for a random battle after school.
~ A fighter can only request a fight with those in their class level or a single class higher or lower. This is to prevent injury in case a big headed F-class thinks he or she can take down an S-class.
~ Medical help is on standby (rich kid school, remember?) and battle ends when a fighter forfeits, is knocked unconscious, or the judges deem them unable to continue. Judges will often intervene if they believe a fighter may end up killing the other fighter if the match continues.
~ All 3 judges must agree if they want to end the fight.
~ Fighters are ranked amongst their class, and as they defeat others in battle, their rank will rise. Upon entry into a new class, their rank resets.
~ A fighter rises in class through a level battle in which they fight someone in the class they will be joining. If they win, they join that rank. A person can only apply for a level battle if they are amongst the top 10 in their class ranking for D, E and F. For Classes A, B, and C, the fighters must be in the top 5.
~ Underground Mecha Battles are only done in wealthy schools. Since it is student run, only well off students can afford to keep it going. However, those from other schools have heard rumors of this arena and some even try to sneak into or earn scholarships to the well off schools just so they can see the battles for themselves.
~ New students will have to make their mark in the school. They may have even joined the school because of the rumors surrounding this underground fighting arena, or they could have no clue about it and learn about it after attending the school. The choice is yours.
~ You can join as new students or as students already attending, however it may be easier if you are new as the older students will be able to teach you how things work.
~ When joining, your fighter must be F through A, and if you want an S class fighter please ask first. However, you can obtain S rank through roleplay if it goes on long enough.
NOTE: It won't be fun if everyone is playing an A ranked super fighter, and there are more lower classed fighters than higher classed fighters in the school anyway.

The more powerful the skill, the more taxing it is.)
